much awaited return to lost trax! scsi-av has been a well respected electro and techno label since it was born in september 2008. almost 12 years later and after a short break scsi is back with a classy detroit techno record which has been sat in the vaults for quite some time waiting patiently to be released. as the second part of the lost trax series. expect deep bass, booming 808 kicks and carl craig-esque sounding strings. the production on both sides of this record is amazing showing the digital generation that analogue kit still sounds supreme. the lost trax series is a project for producers who have inspired the label to record something special and release anonymously as we dont believe its necessary to sell music on the strength of a specific artists reputation.

this debut lp by innergaze is chock full of rugged hand played analog synths lines, primitive drum machines, haunting vocals, and psychic jewelry. call it synthwave, call it punk, call it metaphysical body music or at this juncture whatever one sees fit, but this duos music goes beyond naming names for the sake of it. from the freaky, unrelenting opener >no shame< to the chris & cosey-esque >la la la<, this record creates many aural worlds to inhabit and explore. the title track >we are strange loops< bubbles at a slow, hazy drug induced bpm, while >illusions<, with its distorted almost guitar-like synth lines and stripped down 808 programming, brings things right back to the dance floor. the ideas and feelings executed here are a direct outpouring of what happens when the machines are turned on, played and recorded.

aniligital music is back at it with anthony mansfield and tal m. klein and their evil ways! building upon the successes of their previous collaborations, the villainous duo raises the stakes and take things deeper with this enigmatically titled three tracker. ciento ocho is spanish for 108, the tempo of the first track on the ep. a creepy crawly builder with 8-bit roots that culminate in a huge funk breakdown with an insidious bass hook (if you have any doubt,just fast forward 3 minutes into the track) next up is desayuno en timpanis which we think means breakfast at timpanis in spanish. needless to say this ones heavy on the percussive elements, including of course lots and lots of timpani drums. desayuno en timpanis gets going pretty quickly and doesnt let up. check the flanged upright bass breakdown for extra bigness! purely non-stop huge sound system busting dancefloor action. speaking of floor fillers, have we shown you our tiger bomb? bomba de tigre is the definitely the deepest track on the ep, but lest anthony and tal rest on the laurels of their 808 kicks and 303 basslines, this tigre is a stalking beast that explodes in a vicious classic house attack!

the ep kicks off with the title track >we rock non-stop<. tight kick drums layered with pitched 808 subs set the basis of the track. chopped up machine and voice samples are then layered with smooth pads and delays to complete the track. the second track of the ep >solvent abuse< sees sync 24 sticking to his dark roots. distorted vocals, haunting pads, trippy sequences and dirty bass combined with rolling beats and subs!
the reverse side of the 12 inch is slightly deeper, techy affair. >chosen module< is a spacious wash of delays and pads mixed with robotic bass and crisp round beats. the final track >marios mushroom< carries on the spaced out trippy theme of the side with more spooky pads, bubbly bass lines and hypnotic rhythms.

catalog number 004 on four roses recordings is yet another sublime release of the motor city drum ensemble. following the success of his first single for frr, breath control, danilo plessow this time brings us two quite unique tracks: the a side (sunsequence) being a dark, repetitive and haunting piece of post detroit techno which continuously builds layer upon layer, until it finally explodes: the pulsewave drones, jupiter chords and 808 patterns will cause maximum effect on the dancefloor. feel the love on the b side slows things down a little, but keeps the dark mood, adding some of that old school sample flavour to create a trippy afterhour track, that sounds different from anything you ve heard lately. ltd restock

not quite one year after his exceptional album sworn, anders ilar is back with his new cellular memories ep. its four tracks could be regarded as a safe cure for uninspired strictly functional dj-sets. you probably wont find many records which are that packed with enchanting sounds and melodies, longing emotions combined with infectious solid grooves. from the dubby back to square one, over the minimal massive 808 kicks in hazard ahead and the dramatic but blissful clicky and groovy ulterior motives, to the stunning choral epic ocean sonata, cellular memories ep is a musical pleasure and another masterpiece and of course a must for fans of anders ilar.

after recent successes on his other label, donnacha costello returns to his look long imprint with the storming one sided monster that is ten thousand hours. to begin, an ominous, growling, analog siren calls out from costellos roland sh-101, alerting us that our presence is required on the dancefloor before rattling, shuffling hi-hats mark out the groove and we head out on an ecstatic 7 minute analogue journey through a universe inhabited by wispy shadows of s-express, 808 state, mathew jonson and costellos own classic colorseries sound. words dont do justice to this one. simply drop the needle on the record and escape to an alternate universe on a magic carpet of analog synths and drum machines. ten thousand hours appears as a very limited one sided vinyl edition and wont be re-pressed. dont sleep

third side is the new operative group of restoration, formed by marieu, lucretio and by resident dj of panorama bar steffi (klakson/ostgut ton). >ready to dance< is a dancefloor disco-bomb, funky and sexy but minimalistic at the same time. very essential in its build-up, its bass line is addicting and relentless and its bass drum is powerful. we are ready to dance, its time to jack!
analogue cops >chamber< is a strong dark track in which a massive 808 drum explosion runs together with an ultra-pitched down voice sample. rushing percussions, piercy hi-hats, a breathless progression. an experiment which turns into a solid club tack.
on side b, >still me< represents lucretios vocation to neoclassicism. the time disappears and a gospel organ full of motown reminiscences reminds the most soulful works appeared on planet earth. dramatic and sweet, its evocative and hopeful. lucretios track on rst006 appears on tama sumos >panorama bar – mix cd<.
>mauzy< is marieus deepest track on restoration. beat-down smashing 909 drums, punchy snares, delightful piano chords, sharp cymbals, a praising voice. a track for a spiritual elevation, a track to dance until the last second. a track to listen to a million of times.

david keno is going for the trifecta with feast, his 3rd kindisch release of the year. following on from his excellent label debut discoteca, and his storming tout le temps collaboration with jaxson, keno is back with the 3-track smorgasbord that is feast. starting off his career with a number of releases for on corrado izos 1220 label, david keno has since cut his teeth with morris audio citysport edition and frankie rec, and has honed his sound into a fresh combination of masterfully constructed beats, perfectly pitched percussive elements and infectious melodies… all the right elements for dancefloor devestation! feast shows david keno taking a leaf out of the book of us westcoast house pioneers, and giving the sound a new perspective. >bonito< opens with a hint of cheeky latin swing and demi-percussion, before breaking into a tough jacking beat and boompty house bassline. a lone, melancholy string sample in the second half define the track by injecting a touch of unexpected quirkiness into the mix. keeping the momentum going is >808<, a slightly deeper affair based on a throbbing, undulating bassline and conga-led percussion

nys underground celebrity, electronic obscurity and rare disco specialist william burnett (aka grackle, aka speculator) delivers an ep that truly defies any categorization and therefore will have a harder time to find its way into the stores usually packed with easily digestible pre-masticated dancefloor stew that comes with filing recommandations. the music on this record evokes images of mad peyote sessions held amidst dry and sandy landscapes. the original desert acid sounds like a jam machines and instruments would do when left on their own, unsupervised by humans. a wobbly and acidey synthline goes on a psychedelic journey with fuzzy guitar riffs, backed by a stompy almost tribal discobeat. düsseldorfs currently most interesting band musiccargo rework the piece into a cinematic krautdisco gem that floats on a loopy vibraphone drone, sprinkled with german and english lyrics. sombrero galaxy (aka cbs/intergalactic fm regular dj tako reyenga and his mysterious uk buddy jonny nash) take the track into cosmic realms (rare occasion where the term really fits) and their version could easily be interpreted as a vangelis tribute. the last track on the ep we are it is a slow 808 jam with druggy and spaced out fuzzy vocals, paired with equally druggy and fuzzy guitars. if you are a filmmaker and you need a song for a weird desert scene youd be an idiot not to consider this one the perfect choice.

late 2008 discos capablanca invited eric d. clark and traxx (nation) to dj at a label party. eric ended up singing live over traxx beats. doing so in a daze, originally an unreleased instrumental by traxx and beau wanzer, evolved into the final version you hear here, combining 808 sounds and a passionate vocal delivery, with the rough and gritty edges still intact.

transmissions florales is massis first vinyl release. the density of the 808 drums reminds us this is synthetic from the start. but as the the swirling, phasing 7th chords and the crystal-like lead tones build up and blend with the laid-back wah-wah guitars, this simple song take us to some sensual, forgotten place with swaying limbs and flashing lights. with a few changes in structure and the timbre of the bass, the acid mix proposes an alternate scenario - gliding to the edge of madness with a wink at raving in the late 80s. are we in the disco? or at the seashore? keep on moving, keep on flying. bionic gulls call to each other over the oceans arpeggios. >alpha base< uses a similar synth palette, but with quite different results. rather than waves, this piece seems to evoke dramatic weather over a jagged terrain. the funky, syncopated bass and percussion remind us of some ancient tribal ceremony on parched soil. odd sound effects imitate the heat and sudden shots of lightning, while the ascending pentatonic breaks suggest a primitive electronic geisha, draped in mylar foil, deflecting the suns rays as she dances for the gods. she performs an intricate sequence of steps, each with its own placement and hidden meaning… having spent the past 2 years entertaining crowds at underground clubs in berlin and around the eu, massi is already somewhat known to those who enjoy dancing to whatever is eclectic, energetic, and atmospheric. now, perhaps more people will hear his special groove. we hope you share our joy, our obsession… and the particular oscillations from this very personal >transmission florale<

the truesoul imprint represents the somewhat soulful side of its owner - adam beyer. here, cari lekebusch takes up the challenge and produces two wonderful tracks. on the a side we are treated to a wonderful deep 808 driven groove with eerie pads, neat reverses and cool cowbells that creates a wonderful intensity. on the flip side again the deep groove is apparent with neat vocoded vocal samples and fat bass before there is a cool break and the main synth sound appears in the track to give it a seriously intense lift

jorge has been a central figure on the latin-american musical stage since the 80s-first as the co-founder of chiles beloved political rockers los prisioneros, then as a restlessly inventive solo musician and as one half of gonzálo martínez, the experimental electronic duo with dandy jack (martin schopf). now based in mexico city and working alongside loreto otero, jorge presents los updates, a new project combining electro-pop with an unusual approach to minimalist house and techno. designed both as a studio affair and a live performance, los updates expands its collaborative scope by reaching out to a crew of well-known chilean and european musicians who were central to the development of chilean techno in the mid 90s: ricardo villalobos, dandy jack, luciano and tobias freund, all of whom deliver defiantly original remixes across a series of 12-inch singles. tobias. fills the a-side with his remix of >pictures of you< simply one of the most dazzling things youll hear this year. tobias. recent string of work-singles for wagon repair and ostgut ton, as well as remixes for two armadillos and jim rivers-has shown him to be a master of the hypnotic groove, and here he entrances like never before, laying down a stark 808 drum pattern which he threads through dubby keys, analog explosions and liquid bass figures. on the b-side cadenzas luciano is getting late and brings his inimitable touch to the remix of >etting late<. luciano reworks the song into a lean, bleepy groove that marries the cool restraint of vintage dbx to lucianos own effusive style, buoyant and percussive and completely enveloping..
